Endovascular treatment of unique colonic arteriovenous malformation with dual supply from superior and inferior mesenteric arteries

چکیده
Colonic arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are well recognized in the literature and commonly manifest as colitis, abdominal pain, rare cases have been reported of liver congestion. Dual-supply superior artery/ inferior mesenteric artery (SMA/IMA) colonic AVMs never only one case treating portal hypertension due to an AVM with endovascular approach has reported. We present a dual-supply SMA/IMA manifesting hepatic venous congestion demonstrate treatment. Level evidence: 4, series.

Inferior mesenteric arteriovenous malformation: an unusual cause of ischemic colitis
A 59-year-old male presented with a 1-month history of intermittent diarrhea, abdominal pain, and hematochezia. He had a right hemicolectomy for cecal cancer 5 years ago. His radiologic and endoscopic surveillance have been negative. He had no other medical comorbidities. On presentation, he was hemodynamically stable. Laboratory studies were only significant for anemia (hemoglobin 10.2 g/dL) w...
متن کاملInferior mesenteric arteriovenous fistula
Arteriovenous fistula (AVF) involving the inferior mesenteric artery and vein is very rare with only 33 cases described in the literature and may be of congenital or acquired (iatrogenic or traumatic) or idiopathic etiology. The pathophysiology of AVF that acts as a left-to-right shunt has accounted for clinical signs and symptoms associated with ischemic colitis, portal hypertension, and heart...
متن کاملA morphological study of celiac, superior mesenteric and inferior mesenteric arteries in atherosclerosis.
BACKGROUND Depolymerisation of acid-mucopolysaccharides results in the loss of metachormasia of the ground substance followed by visible fibre crumbling, complete dissolution and replacement by lipid droplets and cholesterol. The objective of this study was to assess the distribution of different atherosclerotic lesions in celiac, superior mesenteric and inferior mesenteric arteries relation to...
متن کاملEndovascular recanalization of occluded superior mesenteric artery using retrograde access through the inferior mesenteric artery
Symptomatic occlusion of the superior mesenteric artery can be treated by open repair, hybrid procedure, or endovascular revascularization. In most cases, endovascular procedures are done by the antegrade approach. We report a case of a 67-year-old woman who presented with acute-on-chronic mesenteric ischemia successfully treated by retrograde endovascular recanalization of an occluded common h...
